Sectional Chalet: Updates

Posted by: ohyay on: September 1, 2008

Firstly, I want to say that I hate planning.

Anyway, discussed this with some of the seniors, and since the poly students will only begin their holidays from 15 December onwards, it is most probable that the section chalet will be held during the weekend.

In case you’re planning to go overseas, please keep these dates free: 28 – 30 November, 5 – 7 December, 12 – 14 December. I’m hoping to be able to book the chalet on either the 28 – 30 November slot, so as to give those who have just finished their A Levels paper (namely JianQin, so troublesome right?) ample rest and time to pack their stuff and burn their notes. If it’s possible, we might even book the 21 – 23 November slot. If so, then you guys can be rid of me for the whole of December.

It’ll be a 3 day 2 night chalet. We’re checking in on Friday afternoon, and checking out on Sunday morning. The chalet’s not yet booked, because the final number of people who are going has not been confirmed.

I’m thinking of booking the chalet at Aloha Loyang, because I like it there. Hope no one minds me making this decision. If you loathe that place, I’m okay with it too, because I’m rather accommodating, you see. Costa Sands at Downtown East is close to Downtown East (duh) but it’s rather small compared to the chalets at Aloha resorts, and they cost more too. Aloha Changi is basically in the middle of nowhere. Okay, it’s at Changi, but the only entertainment there is Changi Village at night, and then you guys can go watch the transvestites (or maybe not, since I doubt your parents would approve, but don’t tell them ‘kay?) as well as the Old Changi Hospital (and I’m so not going to step into it). There’s the Changi Beach nearby, and you can also cycle to Changi Village, then to East Coast Park, I think, but it’s rather far away. Aloha Loyang is within walking distance to Downtown East and there’s also a beach nearby. Facilities and amenities at Aloha Loyang are pretty decent too.

Here are the few options available:

Garden Terraces
2 bedrooms, with 2 single and 2 double-decked beds, 1 toilet and 1 bathroom. It costs S$250 per night, S$500 for 2 nights, since it’s the super peak period.

Garden Bungalows
4 bedrooms with adjoining toilets cum bathrooms, with 2 queen sized beds, 4 single beds, and 1 toilet cum bathroom. It costs S$470 per night, S$940 for 2 nights.

Pool Terraces
Guess what? They’re double-storey terraces by the pool! Consists of 4 bedrooms with adjoining toilets cum bathrooms, 2 queen sized beds, 4 single beds, and 1 toilet cum bathroom. It costs S$500 per night, S$1000 for 2 nights.

Sea View Bungalows
4 bedrooms with adjoining toilets cum bathrooms, 2 queen sized beds, 4 single beds, and 1 toilet cum bathroom. It costs S$470 per night (except for Bungalow 1, which costs S$500 per night, don’t ask me why), S$940 for 2 nights.

Sea View Terraces
Yep, another one of those double-storey terraces. 4 bedrooms with adjoining bathrooms cum toilets, 2 queen sized beds, 4 single beds, and 1 toilet cum bathroom. It costs S$500 per night, S$1000 for 2 nights.

I have to know how many people are going, and how many are staying overnight, ASAP, so that I know which one to book. Also, could you guys do me a favor by asking around and see whose parents are NTUC members? Because we can get a discount that way.

The cheaper alternative would be Aloha Changi. The rates there can be half of that of Aloha Loyang. And I  wasn’t kidding when I said that it’s in the middle of nowhere. The cheapest chalets there costs S$250 per night, while the most expensive ones costs S$600 per night, even though it’s around the same area. Unlike Aloha Loyang, Aloha Changi does not have any swimming pools or arcades, and to rent a bicycle, you have to walk to Changi Village, or take a bus.

This seems to get more and more complicated.

We could go to Sentosa or something, I suppose, but that’s rather hard to manage too, if a lot of people are going. A sectional dinner would be fine, except that JiaJin’s a vegetarian, and if so, we have to find a place that serves vegetarian food. Anyway, I’ll just let you guys decide what you want.
