I pierced my helix a few days ago, remember? And I pierced the same spot again today. One word to describe it? No, it’s not “ouch”. It’s more like “fuck”.

I took out the earstud last night, because the lady told me that I could remove it in 3 days’ time. And I did, no problems with that. The thing is, I couldn’t put it back in. I spent 2 whole frigging hours just trying to poke the earstud through, but to no avail. In the end, I got so frustrated that I left it alone, and went to sleep.

Was debating with myself whether I should pierce my ear again, because I was told by many people that piercing the same spot would hurt a lot more. I was wondering if I should pierce my right helix instead. But I guess I still preferred it to be on the left, and so I pierced the exact same spot again.

Because I had been messing around with the earstud the previous night, by jabbing at it repeatedly, that part of my ear was a little sore, and probably a little inflamed too. When the piercing gun went “piak”, I could immediately feel the pain, even on my cheek, and I don’t know why. It’s not like I’m piercing my cheek. Now that’s freaky. Is this how getting slapped feels like? I don’t know, I’ve never been slapped, since I’m so lovable that no one could ever bring themselves to do so. Next thing I know, I might get bitch-slapped.

I had a few choice words running through my head, moments after the earstud went in, and mostly expletives. Not bad, I could still string together coherent sentences peppered with foul words.

The lady who helped me to pierce my ear was nice. She had several piercings herself. You know how we often judge people based on their outer appearance, or whatever prejudices we might have? I guess I was guilty of that as well. I though she’d be cold and mechanical, you know, just helping me pierce my ear because that’s what she’s paid to do, among other things. Nope, she was rather concerned, asking me when I last pierced, how it felt after re-piercing, whether it was more painful, things like that. Gives people the impression that you’re human, instead of a robot-like creature doing your duties.

Yep, now the earstud’s back in my left helix, and I have no intentions of taking it out after 3 days. I might take out only after 3 months. Once bitten twice shy, yeah? Ear’s okay now, just slightly swollen, even though it was hurting like hell just now. I hope it wouldn’t be spotted on Monday, when school reopens, because there’s the dumb spot check thing. And we all know Mr Siva likes me oh-so-much. JianQin advised me to tie my hair loosely, so that it’d cover up the piercing. The earstud is rather conspicuous, because they didn’t have any that were smaller. But I don’t care, am about to graduate anyway. Besides, they should leave me alone during this period of time. O Levels are almost here! They shouldn’t pick on trifle things like that, and distress me, right? It would distract me from my studies, really! I might even do badly for the O Levels if they traumatized me sufficiently. Now now, we wouldn’t want that to happen, would we?

I pierced my ear at Lot 1, in The Bluez, on the 4th storey, I think. I know, some people prefer to pierce their ears in boutiques like Lee Hwa Jewellery, Soo Kee Jewellery, or Goldheart, places like that. I guess I can understand why. Those are huge chain stores dealing with real jewellery, and the workers there are deemed to be more “professional”, I guess, as compared to those working in stores like The Bluez. Those people have more credibility, and because of where they’re working, people tend to have more confidence in them.

I have never pierced my ears in any boutiques. Why? Because I don’t have confidence in them. Some of them don’t even have pierced ears, or have a single pair of piercings only, unlike those people working at tiny chain stores, because some of them have multiple piercings. Granted, those working in boutiques are more knowledgeable when it comes to jewellery, but that’s where it ends. What do they know about piercings, if they don’t even have one of their own?

The reason why ear piercing in boutiques might cost more is basically because you’re paying for the earstud, instead of the piercing process. Don’t forget that you’ll want to remove that earstud later on. “It’s okay,” you think, “I can always use those earstuds in the future.” Are you sure? Have you seen the earstuds they use in ear piercing? It’s different from your normal studs, because they’re sharper at the tip, and thicker. When you replace them with other earstuds that are thinner, you might not be able to use your expensive (okay, not very) earstuds in future, because the hole would have shrunk, and it’ll just go to waste.

It’s like asking a hairdresser with a terrible haircut herself to help you cut your hair. You wouldn’t have much confidence in her, would you? Unless you want to end up looking like a walking haircut disaster, of course. No, wait, that doesn’t fit into this context. Let’s see… It’s like getting a bald man to cut your hair. He wouldn’t be able to tell you much about hairstyles, and if he does, it’ll probably be something like, “Going bald is the best!” which I doubt so, unless you’re balding already, then shaving your head would be the wisest choice. Where was I? Oh yeah, he wouldn’t be able to tell you much about hairstyles, since he doesn’t have hair to style, but he’d be able to tell you how to uh, reflect light using his shiny bald head when taking photos.

I didn’t mean to offend those who are bald. I’m sure there are solutions available. You could call Beijing 101, for instance.

Am thinking of getting 2 more piercing on both helices, but would 9 piercings be a little too much? Yeah, I think it would be.

I’m thinking of piercing my naval. A lip piercing would be interesting, but I’m far too cowardly to do it. Honestly, I watched some videos, and I don’t know why, they don’t use piercing guns. They used needles instead, scary-looking ones that are way too long and way too thick for me to feel comfortable with. THEY PIERCE THE NEEDLE THROUGH YOUR SKIN JUST LIKE THAT. Then there’s the wait, you have a wait for some time before you can remove the needle and put the stud in. I’d have fainted, I think. A piercing gun is less threatening, and the whole process can be completed in around 3 seconds. Do they even use the piercing gun for naval piercings? Have to check.

I know I’m a little crazy for wanting so many piercings, but it’s kind of fun actually.
