Because people mess up a lot when they try asking for someone’s number. Or is it because I’m being too critical?

Number 1: Do Not Insist
It’s nice to get your point across, but I don’t think it leaves a very good impression if you’re being annoying. If that person doesn’t want to give his/her number, then just shut up and go away. And then find the tallest building in that area and jump off it.

Number 2: Do Not Hint
If you want his/her number, just say so. Hinting gets you nowhere. Because if that person’s dumb, he/she will not get your hint, and thus, you will get no phone number! Also, that person can also choose to ignore the hint, a skill which I’m getting really good at. Hints are meant to be ignored, I said so.

Number 3: Leave Your Number Behind
If he/she refuses to give you his/her number, then let him/her have yours! If you leave your number behind, that person would feel compelled to call. Like, “Should I call or should I not call?” See, so you wouldn’t have to call, the other person would call you! Better still, make that person agree to call you, so that he/she will feel guilty that he/she hasn’t called you yet.

Yes, I’m still wondering if I should call. But to do so would be suicidal, and for my sanity’s sake, I will not. Maybe someone would do me a favour and call on my behalf?

Number 4: “I Need To Call My Friend”
And say that you battery’s flat or something. Then borrow his/her phone, and then call your own number. After that, check your phone for that missed call, and there you have it. This is by far the stupidest method to obtain someone’s phone number, but it works, trust me, because I was tricked once.

Number 5: Don’t Say Your Friend Wants The Number
If your friend wants it, then your friend can do the asking. More sincere, no? And duh, don’t get your friend to ask on your behalf either. It’s equivalent to asking your friend to help you propose.

I still think people should just leave me alone.
